About Shop Vintage Portland

Lulu (Anne Weiland) of Shop Vintage Portland & Lulu's Vintage

Shop Vintage Portland is The Unprecedented Guide to all things vintage that Portland has to offer. SVP began when Lulu (Anne Weiland) started a blog sharing her love and knowledge of vintage and Portland with the world. Since the blog was launched in January 2008, Lulu has visited, photographed, and written about over 130 different vintage businesses in Portland. Every Friday, Shop Vintage Portland highlights the Best Vintage Films, Music, and Events Happening in Portland.

Because of Shop Vintage Portland, Lulu was contacted by Eva Wiseman from the UK Guardian Observer newspaper in Spring 2009. Ms. Wiseman visited Portland and Lulu gave her a personal tour around town to vintage clothing stores while accompanied by a photographer. After Ms. Wiseman’s visit, an article titled “Vintage Shopping” was published in the UK Guardian Observer newspaper in April 2009.

The following year, Lulu was asked by the UK Guardian Observer to choose a hip area of Portland to feature in a one page article. Lulu chose to write about Inner Southeast Portland. In addition to writing the article, Lulu was responsible for all associated photography. The article “When In... Inner Southeast Portland” was published in June 2010.

In 2010, Lulu was interviewed along with other vintage experts from Manchester, Berlin and Oslo for an article titled “Stylishly Second-Hand” which appeared in the August / September / October 2010 edition of Thomas Cook Travel magazine.

In October 2010, Lulu opened Lulu’s Vintage in downtown Portland at 916 West Burnside.

In September 2011, Lulu created and launched the Shop Vintage Portland Map as a guide to Vintage, Retro, and Design related Shopping, Eating / Drinking, Lodging, and Cultural destinations in Portland, Oregon.

The Westside Map features SW and NW Portland and includes The Pearl District, Nob Hill, Old Town / Chinatown, Downtown & The West End neighborhoods.

The Eastside Map features SE and N / NE Portland and includes East Burnside, Belmont, Hawthorne, Division, Clinton, Sellwood, Hollywood, Mississippi, Beaumont, Alberta, Killingsworth, and St. Johns neighborhoods.

Printed maps are available at participating businesses and the maps are also available to be downloaded online.

The release of the Shop Vintage Portland Map was coordinated with a re-launch of the Shop Vintage Portland Website. The website features updated photographs, descriptions, and an easy to navigate index of participating businesses. You can also get the latest information by Becoming a Fan on our Facebook page or Following Us on Twitter.

On a regular basis people planning to visit Portland contact Lulu wanting to know where to shop for vintage. She is also contacted by designers of major fashion labels wondering where to find specific types of vintage clothing. Locals and tourists alike come into Lulu’s Vintage daily who are looking for a particular type of item or wanting a referral to other vintage businesses for shopping, eating / drinking, and lodging.

Monticello Antique Marketplace (8600 SE Stark St.) is beginning its Christmas Show today. The show runs from today until January 1st. Store hours are Monday - Saturday 10:00 am - 6:00 pm and Sunday 10:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Happy 40th Birthday to the Northwest Film Center! To celebrate, an opening night party is being held at The Portland Art Museum's Field's Ballroom (1119 SW Park Ave.) at 9:00 pm. Portland Antique Expo Show October 2011

The Fall Palmer/Wirfs & Associates Antique & Collectible Show is happening this weekend out at the Portland Expo Center, 2060 North Marine Drive.

Show hours are Saturday 9-6 and Sunday 10-5. The $7- admission is good for both days. The Yellow Line MAX runs out to the Expo Center.

I went to the show yesterday, took lots of photos and did some shopping. As usual there was lots of great merchandise for sale and stylish folks at the show...
